ONLINE SALE ENDS YEAR ON A HIGH (2-Dec-09)
The innovative AngusPlus online sale will end 2009 strongly with 873 commercial Angus females and steers listed for the final sale of the year on Friday December 4.
“Already 2009 has been the best year since the first AngusPlus sale in 2006 with 7104 cattle offered and sold bringing the overall total to more than 20,000 head that have grossed almost $12 million for Angus Australia’s members,” according to Angus Australia’s Geoff Phillips.
“AngusPlus is unique because it provides genetic descriptions through pedigrees and Estimated Breeding Values of the sires of the cattle on offer in addition to the usual comprehensive AuctionsPlus assessments and photographs,” he said.
And it is set to continue in a strong vein in 2010 with cattle already booked for sale next autumn.
The December 4 sale includes cattle carrying some of the breed’s best known genetics such as Ardrossan, Glenruben, Murdeduke, Onslow, Rennylea and Te Mania.
The offering comprises cattle from eight vendors from Victoria and New South Wales, all Angus Australia members using registered Angus bulls.
The sale is dominated by 390 cows with calves along with 218 heifers, 75 in calf cows and 190 steers.
AngusPlus resulted from an alliance between Angus Australia and Elders and uses the AuctionsPlus online system.
